We finally made it. It has been 3 long and arduous years of Family Medicine Residency at Howard University, but we (me and my family) finally made it. These are some of the pictures that Jason (Thanks Honey!!) took of the Graduation ceremony! It was a great ceremony! I received a couple of awards (Resident Leadership Award, Vice-President of House Staff Association participation award, and Graduate Medical Education Participation award). It was a great chance to see everyone I have worked with over the last three years as physicians preparing to go out and serve our patient population!
Over the years, I have participated in a lot of research. I also received a Family Medicine Award for research. I had the great opportunity to present all over the country (Maryland, New York, Florida, Kansas, California, and Internationally--Vancouver, Canada) in various conferences and forums ( Society for Teachers of Family Medicine, American Academy of Family Medicine-Resident Conference, National Medical Association Conference, American Medical Student Association and Family Medicine Northeast Consortium).
It was a great 3 years (even though it was really hard!!). I had a great time making friends, meeting mentors and taking care of patients. I learned so much and I look forward to continuing to serve my community as a Family Medicine Physician.
